Shops - what can go wrong?

Shops business insurance claims are very real. Many shop owners have to make claims against their shop insurance policy. Could you be one of these? We look at examples of what can go wrong:

Fire

A shop fire resulted in the entire stock of foodstuffs being ruined by smoke damage.  In addition, further damage was caused by the firemen while they were putting out the fire. All this damage was included as part of the fire claim under the shops business insurance.

Damage

Saturday night revelers leaving a pub smashed a shop's glass front.  The business shops insurance policy covered both the temporary boarding up costs and the replacement of the glass.

Lost Income

Local contractors cut through an electricity cable supplying a shop's premises.  The power was off for 24 hours whilst repairs were carried out.  As a result, the shop's stock of frozen foodstuffs defrosted and it lost profit because it was unable to trade.  Both losses were covered under the shops business insurance policy.

These are only examples.  The circumstances of each claim vary and are subject to the terms and conditions of the policy wording.
