Shops - what can go wrong?
Fire
A shop fire resulted in the entire stock of foodstuffs being ruined by smoke damage. In addition, damage was caused by the firemen in their attempt to put out the fire. This damage was included as part of the fire claim under the shop's business insurance
Damage
Saturday night revellers leaving the pubs smashed the shop's glass front. Both the temporary boarding up costs and the replacement of the glass were covered under the shop's insurance policy.
Lost Income
Contractors working in the vicinity cut through an electricity cable supplying the shop's premises. The power was off for 24 hours whilst repairs were carried out. As a result, the shop's stock of frozen foodstuffs defrosted and the shop lost income because they were unable to trade. Both losses were covered under the shop's insurance policy.
These are only examples. The circumstances of each claim vary and are subject to the terms and conditions of the policy wording
